Calling all authors, artists, educators or creative people!
Are you bursting to teach something you love to do? Do you love to share your knowledge with friends? If you are an experienced teacher or a first-time teacher, I would like to invite you to submit a Class Proposal for the Machine Embroiders of Oregon and Washington (MEOW) Seminar, May 28-May 31, 2009, held in Olympia, Washington.
Our yearly MEOW seminar provides class instruction, fun activities, sharing of knowledge and expertise, and learning new creative techniques in the field of crafting, but most of all, it’s a great time to make new friends. All classes are acceptable for submission, including free motion embroidery, sewing, pattern making, beading, polymer clay, hand embroidery, computerized embroidery, fiber arts, weaving, scrapbooking techniques, quilting, etc. Think outside of the box! MEOW members include a wide variety of skill levels from beginners to professionals, and we love to learn anything! In our yearly seminar we would love to see classes that offer various techniques and skill levels. Classes may be technique- or project-oriented. Three- and six-hour classes are offered. If your class is a project, it should be one that the average student should be able to finish in the time allowed.
Any member of MEOW or any creative person is encouraged to submit proposals. If you have submitted a proposal in the past but it was not chosen as a class, please submit it again. Every year is different and attendees love new techniques and projects. Feel free to submit proposals for more than one class!
Please use the form provided in the MEOW newsletter, or you can download the form at www.sewmeow.org. Look under Seminar 2009/Forms. Please submit one proposal per form. You can submit samples and/or photos, but samples are preferred, and will be returned to you by October 31, 2008. Photos often don’t do justice to the project.
Send all proposals by September 1, 2008, to:
Connie Hasten
5310 157th Place SW
Edmonds WA 98026-1477
e-mail: chasten4@msn.com Please e-mail her if you are sending a package so she can watch for it.
All proposals will be presented for the initial selection process at the September 2008 Board meeting. MEOW members then choose their classes from those initially selected. All teachers are paid a fee for teaching, and any kit fees are paid by students. If you have any questions or have a suggestion for a teacher who should be contacted, email us.
Where else can you teach to a group of talented and eager students? AT THE 2009 MEOW SEMINAR!
We're looking forward to seeing your class proposals!
